About Stephanie

I'm an Air Force wife and mother to one darling daughter (2 years old).  Our second child is due in May (boy or girl? It's a surprise!).  There are four main focuses in my life:
  • Being Mama: I am blessed to be able to stay at home with our daughter.  I take on projects just because I'm a mama that I wouldn't be able to otherwise.
  • Crafty Time: Although I enjoy many types of crafting, and will try pretty much anything, my focus is currently on paper crafts.  My main goal in my crafting is staying up to date with memory preserving crafts, primarily scrapbooking.
  • Making Home: Honestly, I suck at homemaking and I have tried several systems that just don't seem to work in my life.  Therefore, I am desperately trying to find a system that works for me and my family.
  • Teaching Kiddos: As an Air Force family I have been seriously considering doing some homeschooling due to the probability of moving/traveling during the school year.  Homeschooling is possible anywhere, even in the car!
After spending five years at Washington State University my educational background plays a huge role in who I am (teacher by nature) and how I think (scientist by training).  This is why I am choosing to share my accomplishments related to my formal education.
  • Bachelor of Science in General Physical Science
  • Minor in Chemistry
  • Minor in Mathematics
  • Teaching and Learning Courses
The story behind butterflies and me goes back to planning our wedding.  I feel like a lot of "themes" are over done (no offense if you used any of the themes I dis, it just wasn't right for us), and didn't want to have an event theme but needed something to tie things together a little bit more than just "blue."  Doves didn't work, we didn't have "a place" like the beach, or any of the other wedding themes that were floating around in 2007.  Ever since we had a "blue butterfly" wedding we have been receiving butterflies for decoration, household goods, on cards, etc.  I've even bought some of it, but I was never really "into" butterflies and I'm still not, but it's a symbol that has stuck.

Currently I am serving on the Board of Directors for the Joint Alumni Association of Arnold Air Society, Angel Flight, and Silver Wings as the Director of Public Affairs.
